My Book:
I've been gratified by your response to it! And overwhelmed by some of
the comments. One of the first recipients, my mentor Sylla
Sheppard-Hanger, from the Atlantic Institute of Aromatherapy sent a glowing
response, and let me post it with the book description. And a long time
client and friend, posting anonymously on Amazon wrote the following:
"I just received my copy of Marge Clark's new book. It is a compact and
concise course on aromatherapy. I appreciate the size of the book, and am amazed
at the thoroughness with which Marge covers her subject. Many other books on the
subject are more verbose and many others are more formulaic. In this book, Marge
shares her extensive knowledge of essential oils, including their best uses,
safety profiles, and some lovely blends one can make for oneself.
Marge is one of the best teachers of aromatherapy, because she is a true student
of aromatherapy. Her business, Naturesgift, is a success because of her
integrity and her shared wisdom, and her new book is a natural extension of both
of those qualities. "

Deadline:
If your baby's bottom depends on our
Happy Baby Bottom Balm
to keep him or her happy, please remember that once summer's heat arrives we can
no longer ship this product, or our
Shea
Soufflé. We don't want you to
receive soup, instead of soufflé. My
daughters-in-law both have two in diapers, and are stocking up to get them
through the summer. You might want to do the same.
Our Clients Say:
Suellen Wine recently wrote that she is using our
Mature Skin Elixir, blended
into Avocado Oil, to use on her still damp body after a shower, a use I had not
thought of for the Elixir. She gave me permission to share her suggestion.
(One could add a few drops of Rose or Jasmine or ones favorite aroma to make the
body moisturizer even more wonderful!)
which reminds me... Christina, from
New Zealand recently wrote:
PS...I have found that a
concoction of pure cold pressed avocado oil, apricot and pure rose oil
is a fantastic face moisturizer and helps keep dreaded wrinkles at bay!
Ruth Gilbert shared:
I have a student who has had intensive chemotherapy and
radiation and as a result has nerve damage in both her feet so that there is
both numbness and pain. She recently broke one of her feet and also has
arthritis in her big toe. Big pain! I made a linament with base oils of
3/4 oz St John's Wort, 1/4 oz (approximately, as I kind of melted and mushed
my solidified callophylum) with 4 drops black pepper, 4 drops helicrysum, 4
drops lavandin (not the super which I was out of) (basically your back ease
synergy) plus 2 of ginger, and 2 of juniper. It actually has brought back
feeling into the nerve damaged tissue and greatly relieved the pain in her
feet. I didn't just use your "miracle blend" because I wanted to get those
nerves healing and also relieve the muscle pain. I thought I'd pass it on
in case you know anyone else dealing with the problems of nerve damage from
cancer treatment.
I'm passing along the above to some of our nurse/clients using the oils with
oncology patients.
And Janell Danitschek wrote:
I am also making use of the SleepEase synergy. My
fiance suffers from chronic insomnia and I have not been sleeping well due to
stress (job hunting in a recession does that to you). I am happy to
announce that we are now both sleeping better. Initially I did just place a
few drops on our pillowcases, but found that was to strong for me so I used
some of the Polysorbate 20 and some water to make a fabric spray. I just
spray it through out the day (since he will be suspicious if the pillow is
damp at bedtime) and it seems to work fine. He doesn't notice the smell and
seems to sleep better (I do too).
I make a linen spray out of our
Rose Otto and Rose Absolute by a similar method, but use my SleepEase in an
aromastone on my bedtable.

Press Clippings:
The February issue of
The Whole Dog Journal©
has an article on Calendula - the 2008 herb of the year - and ways it may be
used to enhance the health of our fur kids. Marge was quoted in
a description of the uses of our Calendula CO2, and Nature's Gift was cited
as a source for Calendula Hydrosol.
Among other uses, the author
suggests "Improve your dog’s oral health with calendula. Calendula is
recommended for gum disease and mouth irritations. Dampen your dog’s
toothbrush with calendula tea, hydrosol, or diluted tincture, or wrap gauze
around your finger, soak it, and massage your dog’s gums. You can also apply
calendula tea, hydrosol, or diluted tincture by squirting it into the side
of your dog’s mouth with an eyedropper or by using a small spray bottle. The
more contact calendula has with your dog’s mouth, the better."
Apply a calendula compress
to new, slow-healing, or infected wounds by saturating a wash cloth, gauze,
cheesecloth, or absorbent cotton with calendula tea or diluted tincture.
Hold on the affected area for five minutes. For burns, cuts, scrapes, and
scratches, use cold tea (brew it extra strong, then add ice to chill it
quickly) or hydrosol, or add calendula tincture to ice water. For abscesses,
infected sores, or impacted anal sacs, use a comfortably hot tea, hydrosol,
or diluted tincture. The hot application, which speeds relief, is called a
fomentation. After five minutes, remove the compress or fomentation, re-soak
the fabric or cotton, and reapply.
Christi and I can't wait for each
month's issue to arrive...if you are interested in natural methods to care
for your canine friends, we highly recommend the Journal.
Interview:
My old friend Liz Tams is co-editor of Nature's Nexus - a forum and
organization all about natural products and holistic lifestyles. She
recently interviewed me for the website. You may read the interview
here.
Odd ingredients:
Recently came across
an odd tidbit:
"Snake venom-based anti-ageing cream launched in UK
Planet Skincare is readying for the February launch of an anti-ageing
moisturiser that will contain the award-winning
ingredient Syn-ake, based on snake venom...
Wasn't Cleopatra bitten by an Asp??? Perhaps we're missing something
here...???
I don't think so! We promise, unlike some other supposedly natural
anti-aging skin care products, our
Cleopatra's Secret
contains absolutely NO
snake venom...even if she did get bitten by an Asp.
(I'm wondering if they did any marketing research on this!)
Quotes of the Month:
Suffering requires us to descend into ourselves. As there is no other way out,
we are obliged to call on the power of the soul and spirit. When we succeed in
doing so, instead of groaning and crying out in rebellion, we exhale a delicate
perfume."

idiot, babbling and strewing flowers."
