April Showers - It's SPRING

Springtime...time of rebirth and new beginnings...and we have a host of new products, and newly available products for your pleasure. Old favorites that have been out of stock return to fill our shelves. We're planning an April Fool's special sale and an April Fool give-away. The newsletter features the Hydrosol of the month, two new essential oil samplers, and, as always, hints, tips and suggestions from our users. All products below are available on our "New and Special" page.

For the giveaway.... if you place your order on April 1st - April Fool's Day - and SAY "April Fool" in the comments section (NOT a promotional code!) you will be given a free gift with the order. Now, we are not saying these are wonderful splendid prizes. (It's not CHRISTMAS, after all.) Promotional items with our name and web address, bottles of some essential oils that weren't poured quite full enough. We can't sell them - they're short. I bet no one will object to being gifted with one. What else? Small sizes of some of our soaps, some one of a kind perfume bottles, some items from our shop. No telling what might end up in your package.

Two new aromalamps -

One is clear crystal, the pale green of sea glass. The other? Blue ceramic with the largest and most shallow bowl we have ever offered. A shallow bowl seems to diffuse the oils faster. I fell in love with both of these, and hope you will too. Both are available on our Specials page, as well as on our Aromatherapy Accessories page.

New concoction: SKEETERBEATER GEL!

We've had requests for a lighter version of our popular SkeeterBeater Body Oil, for use in extreme heat. Here it is. Organic Aloe Vera Juice, thickened with a derivative of Xanthan Gum. This should prove longer lasting than an alcohol based spray, yet more comfortable in hot weather than the body oil. A VERY limited quantity on this first, experimental batch. Available only on our Specials page until I have time to make more.

New Hydrosol - Rosalina Hydrosol:

Known as "Lavender Tea Tree", Rosalina combines the germkilling power of Tea Tree and the gentleness of Lavender. A wonderful oil or hydrosol for use with young children. It is a mild and slightly astringent skin toner for normal to oily skin types. Rosalina Hydrosol would be an ideal spray-on treatment for cuts, scrapes and insect bites since it is mildly analgesic and antibacterial. I've read that it makes a wonderful gargle for bad breath. I have seen its internal use recommended for gastro-intestinal tract infections and as a non-irritating douche for vaginitis and thrush.

APRIL FOOL'S SALE

Some essential oils fool us unexpected aromas. Not BAD aromas, just unexpected. We thought April might be the month to put them on sale. All are marked 10% off if ordered through our New and Special page.

Bergamot Mint

I love this gentle oil. But it does NOT smell like Bergamot. Nor does it smell like Mint. Sweet and gently herbal, it has a similar chemical basis to that of lavender and some authorities suggest it may be used interchangeably. If you haven't tried this delightful oil, now is your chance.

Himalayan Lavender

Our clients who don't like Lavender love this specimen. Grown high in the Himalayas, it has a green, leafy scent, very crisp and relaxing. It reminds me of the prettiest Petitgrain out there.

Opoponax (Sweet Myrrh)

Much sweeter and softer than true Myrrh, Opoponax reminds me of Oud/Agarwood when it dries down.

Faux Citrus

Two oils that (to most noses) smell like lemon oil. Neither has any relationship to the Citrus family.

Litsea Cubeba - from an NON citrus oriental fruit. The aroma has more retention than true citrus oils, and is bright and uplifting.

Lemon Myrtle - our strongest antibacterial is from the leaves of an Australian tree. (I've used this one to flavor a merengue pie. yummm!)

Blending suggestions...from friends and clients:

Years ago June Curtice shared two of her favorite blends for those sleepless nights when your brain just won't stop running.:

6 drops Himalayan Lavender
8 drops Sweet Marjoram
3 drops Lemon

or:
6 drops Black Spruce
3 drops Clary Sage
2 drops Bulgarian Lavender

With either, we'd use a drop or two on a tissue inside the pillow case - or an aromalamp, or an aromastone. Both blends are lovely. For me, the first is more relaxing/sedating; the second just makes tension melt away.

BURN REMEDY:

from one of our clients, who gave us permission to share:

"I would also like to tell you how wonderful your infused calendula oil is.
Yesterday my daughter got steaming hot soup on her arm and hand, so I
immediately poured some calendula in a glass and added a few drops of
lavender (I can work really fast under pressure ;). Well I applied the
blend and I could actually SEE the burn healing!!! I have done this before
on a burn and I have never seen such a fast healing :) As I was using my
regular lavender I completely thank your calendula!!"

When I pulled out the stove to paint behind it and lay the linoleum floor tiles, I saw 10 years of grease spills on the sides of the stove. Well, I just wanted to throw it away. I didn't think a little bit of Orange Oil would make any difference. But I put on rubber gloves and prepared to scrub for hours. I used a simple cleaner such as Glass Plus. Every time I sprayed, I applied a drop or two of Orange EO. I couldn't believe it! 10 years of baked on grease came off as though I had just freshly spilled some sauce! Everything came off so easily I actually had FUN cleaning! The stove and refrigerator were sparkling clean as if they were brand new in a very short amount of time. And when my husband came home he said the house SMELLED SO GREAT!!!
