August NewsletterThis newsletter contains:
As I type this, we are awaiting the arrival of order number 10,000 through our no longer quite so new shopping cart. At the rate orders are coming in, we anticipate its being placed sometime today or tonight. (At this point, 11:30 a.m Central time, there are 24 orders to go.) There will be a very special gift for whoever places order number 10,000. (No fair realizing that you are order # 9999 and immediately placing another one!) We start the month with two new Australian Oils, and other new products: Kunzea Ambigua: Called Australia's most healing oil by aromatherapists in Tanzania. Called "Tick Bush" or "Spring Flower Oil", Kunzea ambigua has been tested and proven effective against a range of bacteria. Read about its physical and emotional qualities and purchase it at an introductory low price on our Specials page. Tea Tree Light: The first distillation of the season, this ethically farmed tea tree is softer and smoother in aroma than the organically grown tea tree oil we have offered for years. For those who want the antibacterial and anti-fungal effects of tea tree but really don't like the aroma, this is your choice. Again, available on our Specials page. New Blend - ROSACEA TREATMENT GEL: We've blended our popular Rosacea Synergy into soothing aloe vera gel. Courtney first designed this for her personal use and fell in love with it. Other testers have been delighted with the results they've seen. Available in a 2 oz bottle with a treatment pump for your convenience. You may read about, and order it, both on our Specials page, and on our Skincare Synergies page. We've been using it to soothe sunburns and other skin irritations. It is proving to be an extremely gentle and effective skin-soother. New Room/Fabric Spray:
FreshAire Spray/Mist We have used this to clear musty closets,
freshen stale linens and remove stale smoke from draperies.
Available on our Specials page, and on our
Household synergies page. Courtney recently took a bottle of Fresh
Aire spray to her mother (who really doesn't like to admit that our products are
effective) and couldn't get her to return it. We had to give Courtney
another bottle of her own! ENERGETIC OILS KIT Ever since we started offering Robbi Zeck's The Blossoming Heart we've been sourcing some of the rare oils she uses. We also have received requests for a "travel kit" - all 52 oils in an easy to use format. We have diluted them to 10%, and offer 2 ml vials of all 52 in a convenient carrying case, clearly labeled and numbered for ease of selection. Try using a pendulum to select what you need at any given time. HYDROSOLS of the Month: Helichrysum Hydrosol We are awaiting arrival of the 2005 distillation of this most healing hydrosol, and want to clear the refrigerator of what is left. While supplies last, save $4.00 per bottle by ordering on our Specials page. Back in Stock: Roman Chamomile Hydrosol - soothing and anti-inflammatory - ideal for using with infants and toddlers, both for diaper rash and to ease crankiness. On sale only on our Specials page. You may read about both of these healing distillates, and the rest of our hydrosols on the Hydrosols Page. But be sure to return to the Specials page to receive this special savings. CARRIER OILS OF THE MONTH Squalane Save $2.00 on this amazing moisturizer St. John's Wort Infused Oil It's HERE - the 2005 crop was amazing, my herbalist friend writes. A heatwave early in May led to a small crop, but with the most intense concentration she has ever seen. The oil is deeply colored and superb. Infused for a full month in Virgin Olive Oil. As usual, our supply is limited. You may read about the special qualities of these fixed oils on our Carrier Oil page, but be sure to return to the specials page to receive the savings on Squalane. Summer Herb Harvest: My favorite fresh herbs are Basil and Rosemary. To celebrate their abundance, we are putting all four of our Rosemary Oils, and our two Basil oils on special sale. Stock up for the year ahead while these sale prices last. Back in stock: Reunité Soap! Richly scented with Neroli, Vetiver, Orange Blossom and other essential oils, this goats milk soap, enriched with Shea Butter and our Extra Virgin Coconut Cream Oil, was a favorite with our clients last winter. I finally had time to make a small batch and it has been aging for a month. Order while supplies last. Side note: Our Reunité Synergy makes a wonderful cologne for men. All of our men love it, and are standing in line for their own bar of Reunité Soap. (More soaps are curing, the Rose Confetti should be ready in another week or two, the Mille Fleur in perhaps two weeks, and the Calendula Chamomile Castile...who knows when! Castile Soap takes a long time to cure, but is well worth the wait.) We overbought! Lemon Eucalyptus, wildcrafted Eucalyptus citriodora from Australia. On very special sale in 4 and 8 oz sizes only. The FDA (or was it FCC? some government agency) recently released test results that show Lemon Eucalyptus is an effective mosquito repellant. We prefer our Skeeter Beater, but if you demand official testing, then Lemon Euc is the oil for you. Seaweed Essential Oil: The French Distiller of our Seaweed Essential Oil has decided to discontinue this experimental distillation. We purchased the last of his remaining stock, but when it is gone...it will be gone forever. You may read more about it on our descriptive page. Perfume Sell-out We are unable to source a perfumer's alcohol that pleases us at the present time. Therefore, when our present batch of all natural perfumes are gone, we will be unable to recreate them. You may see our remaining stock on our Natural Perfumes page. Seminar Reminder: Seminar - for Health Care ProfessionalsOn Saturday August 20 in Cleveland TN or Sunday August 21 in Chattanooga, Dr. Jane Buckle will be teaching a one day seminar covering some of the latest clinical research in aromatherapy. CEU's are available. For further information or registration go to the seminar listing page. (Yes, Courtney and I plan to attend, even though we are not health care professionals. We always learn so much from Jane.) Summer Scent Suggestions, from Donna Maria Coles Johnson (See our review of her book Making Aromatherapy Creams and Lotions on our book review page.) She writes that "anything citrus-y" definitely tops the list of summer scent favorites. She suggests adding a few drops of any citrus essential oil to a spritzer bottle of cold water for instant refreshment. (Please avoid the more photosensitizing citrus oils...you don't want a sunburn while cooling off!) Blending with the Citrus Oils, Donna Maria suggests just a droplet of Beeswax Absolute, Neroli or Linden Blossom Absolute.
OUR CLIENTS WRITE: Yarrow Hydrosol: Penelope Cansler writes of visiting a friend who had developed severe blisters, broken open, on her feet. (New shoes can do that!). Penelope had her trusty Yarrow Hydrosol with her, and had her friend spritz the "oowies". Within 48 hours the pain was gone and the blisters were almost totally healed. Mature Skin Elixer: Susan Grycan writes: I LOVE YOUR Mature Skin Elixir!!!!! I've only had the chance to use it for the past few nights, but I think my skin is simply glowing, and I don't mean with perspiration! I will definitely have to add more of this Magical Potion to my stock!Hydrosols: Anita Ink writes: I've been using the St. Johns Wort hydrosol on cotton compresses for irritated eyes--it's very refreshing and helps reduce redness. When I wrote asking if I could quote her, she replied: "I'd be glad for you to use my comment. In fact, I also
wanted to share my experience with neroli hydrosol, and you may quote any or all
of the following too, if you like: Migraine Suggestion Lorna Kirby writes:
I was surprised to read this, since Rosemary is a stimulant. It keeps ME awake at night. But she replied "it actually does work!! I think that the Rosemary EO vapors may help to "stimulate" the circulation in the brain to open up and relax. It has certainly helped me to ward off many of my migraine headaches. And as any migraine sufferer can tell you, we need any and all weapons possible in our arsenal of remedies to deal with these severely debilitating headaches." Mouthwash Formula A friend of mine kept getting re-occurring infections along his gumline. I "tweaked" a formula I found on a Canadian "non-toxic alternatives" site. 10 drops tea tree oil Add the essential oils to the polysorb in a sterilized 32 ounce bottle. Add one quart (or liter) of distilled water. Shake well. Use to rinse mouth, do not swallow. Charity of the month: Courtney read of the plight of these young Sudanese men, and her heart was touched. She urged us to make The International Rescue Committee's "Lost Boys Education Fund" our monthly charity. Read more about them on the IRC's site, and we are sure your heart will be touched as well. A percentage of every order placed on Wednesdays this month will be donated to the fund, and you will be able to make your own donation through our shopping cart.CELEBRATE!
