All New Skincare Product: Nature's Gift Creme Cleanser

Suffice it to say that someone sent me a sample. I loved it.  I ordered more, just for me.  People started commenting on  my skin. I let the staff "play" with it.  THEY loved it.   Now available both in the traditional version that I loved, and with our age-defying Cleopatra's Secret synergy.  Read more and order on our Specials Page.  (Eventually we'll move it to our Skincare Products page, but not yet. You get to be the first to try it.)

Price reductions:

Our Passages Synergy has been reduced from $38 for a 5 ml bottle to $25! Read about it and order it on our "Just for Women" page.

Sale while they last:  15 mls of our Nepalise Palma Rosa, normally $7.00,  while supplies last, only $5.00.  Only on our Specials Page.

Back in Stock announcement:

Four oils that we had been totally out of:  Fresh Ginger Root,  Litsea Cubeba, distilled Lime, and Spikenard.  All are back in stock and available once more.

Import difficulties:

Helichrysum:

The weather this past summer has not been ideal on the island of Corsica.  Last summer we were able to purchase 4 liters of our "traditional" Helichrysum. We have less than 16 ounces left.  This year we reserved 5 liters; and were awarded one.  Our cost will be 50% higher than last years.

We inquired about the "Copper Free" helichrysum which, last year, was much less costly than the traditional (as reflected in our retail pricing.)  Last year we imported four liters of it, and have almost two full liters left.  The asking price of the "copper free" is twice what we paid last year. We will not be importing more of it.

I have located one more liter of last year's Corsican Helichrysum at a higher price than I want to pay, but we have it on the way to us.  We are looking at the wide range of products that we offer and debating which can be dropped from our repertoire.

The situation with Helichrysum Hydrosol is even worse.  The producer of our "Traditional" Corsican Hydrosol is now adding 15% alcohol as a preservative.  Since most of you who purchase the Heli Hydrosol use it for hypersensitive and/or inflamed skin, I am not sure that the additional alcohol will be a wise choice.  We did have another shipment of our "copper free" hydrosol arrive...spoiled and molded with... something... floating in it.  We are watering the plants with it.  I want to cry.

German Chamomile:

Many of you know that our English grower/distiller retired after last summer.  We have sold the last of his beautiful matricaria, and have been sourcing more.  I have spoken with several sources in the UK and in France.  The distiller he recommended told me quite frankly that he is thinking of building an ark. It has not stopped raining long enough for him to harvest in several weeks. If and when he is able to bring in a crop, he will contact us with a sample.  I have received samples from Africa and India...and rather than being deep inky cobalt blue they are green.  Not old, freshly distilled, but greenish blue.  Seems to me that indicates they don't have nearly the amount of Chamazulene.  The search goes on.  This week we did receive one lovely sample from the UK - at twice what we paid for last summer's crop. (Well, what we had been buying was extremely low priced, so we may just be playing catch up.)

French Lavender:

We are blessed in sourcing our French essential oils through one of my mentors.  He has been shipping us our French oils for years.  This year we ran out of both our High Altitude and (almost out) our Lavender Mailette. Neither will be available for about another month, but he sent me 2 more liters of last year's Mailette, and, instead of the High Altitude, an Alpine WILD lavender. They should have arrived about a week or ten days ago.  The Wild Alpine was to have been our featured new product in this newsletter.  Fedex kept saying "Clearance Delay" and I thought it was Customs.  Wrong!  The FDA has seized the shipment of Lavender oils and of Thyme Thujanol, and are holding them.  Two reasons are given: 1. the labels are in French and they don't know what they are.  (We have faxed them translations of the labels, and in the future my friend will label in English.)  2. "This article appears to be represented as a drug the name of which is recognized in an official compendium and its strength appears to differ form or its quality or purity appear to fall below the standars set forth in such compendium. PRODUCT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE FOUND IN COMPENDIUM."  (That's what the letter says, folks.   I have been unable to contact the official whose signature is on the letter.  I am told they "may" accept our translated labels and release the shipment.  The tone of voice indicated "not very likely" but they may.  Otherwise they will return the oils to the sender for relabeling. I still don't have any explanation of what the statement about the compendium is about.)

There are weeks that I wish we sold can openers!!!!

GOOD NEWS:  coming soon:

We have FINALLY sourced some Golden Champa absolute that we all love.  It may take a few more weeks, but we will be able to restock it. We are awaiting samples of some products we've been curious about, and others that you have requested.  The 2007 supply of our Lavender Mailette and Buena Vista hydrosols is finally complete.  They are on their way and will be here within the week.  We will shortly be adding Argan Oil and Camelia Oil to our list of carrier oils; and ah, the CO2 samples that are coming:  Arnica, for bruises - just in time as Heli becomes almost unobtainable.  Organic Pomengranite Seed, Evening Primrose and Borage, Equadorian Musk for the perfumers.   Samples are coming of a new Organic Ylangylang Complete from a different source. A beautiful Patchouli, soft, sweet and almost floral with notes of saffron and amber.  We're excited about all the new goodies, and hope you will be too! They will (we hope!) trickle in over the next month, and be added to the specials page as they arrive, so you may want to check back in often. (If you email us, we'll add you to a waiting list.)

Our Clients Say:

Mono and Lyme Disease:

Christine Dunster writes:

FYI --- my daughter was very ill w/ both Mono. & Lyme --- used ravensara
(topical & inhalation) & diffused eucalyptus (globulus & citriadora) w/much success.
We have a lot of inquiries about Lyme Disease, so this is valuable information! Thanks for sharing Christine!

Impetigo

Lisa LaVerde wrote asking for suggestions with her daughter's impetigo.  I wrote back that Impetigo can be either a staph or a strep infection...if it were Staph, I'd want to use our MERCY line of products that have been successful with MRSA. She wrote back after less than two weeks:

FYI   I used the Mercy wash and gel, and Manuka. I also used some goldenseal powder for overnight. I am happy to report they worked very well. I think the Mercy remedy was fantastic! I will be keeping that on hand!
Thanks for your help!!

I love it when we get feedback like that!!!

Mosquito Bites

Lois Carroll recently wrote: I keep a bottle of Myrtle available in the summer, just in case I get a mosquito bite. If it is put on immediately, it will never itch and you will not know that you got bit. I don\'t know why it works but it does.

(For days that you've forgotten to apply your SkeeterBeater?)

Seems to me Lois is using the Myrtle for mosquito bites the way some people use Cajeput for Fire Ant Bites.   Amazing!

Press Clippings: The M Technique®

You all know how enthusiastic we are about The M Technique®!  Christi came across a wonderful interview with our friend Jane about it in a British Paper. Read the article here.

For our third quarter charity this year we have chosen The Joyful Heart Foundation.

The Joyful Heart Foundation, for victims of sexual assault and for prevention was founded by Jayne Mansfield's daughter, Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order SVU on NBC. 100% of funds donated go back to the program. You may read about the Foundation at her website http://www.mariska.com/, and the foundation's website. http://joyfulheartfoundation.org/. They do wonderful things and here is their mission:

The Joyful Heart Foundation is dedicated to helping survivors of sexual assault heal mind, body and spirit. Our programs are designed to nurture and enable the creative healing process for survivors and their communities. We support the larger anti-violence movement by raising awareness and funding for programs with similar missions.

Since our products are designed to heal body, mind and spirit, we felt this cause just "fit" who we are. We hope you'll join us in supporting their important work.
