OUR CLIENTS SAY

TRICK OR TREAT at Nature's Gift

I can never remember whether Hallowe'en is October 30th, or 31st.

So our Trick or Treat day this year will be BOTH the 30th and 31st.

If you place an order through our online shopping cart on either the 30th or the 31st, and
say "trick or treat" in the comments, you will receive a treat...

Some oils that we only offer in 5 and 15 mls were poured into 2 ml bottles. We are
overstocked in some inventory from the shop that we don't even offer online...soaps,
bath teas, products we have purchased from other vendors.  Any of these could
be your treat.   The rules? simple...the order has to be placed online via the shopping
cart (no phone orders) and you MUST say 'trick or treat' in the comments section
at checkout.  My mother always bought "better" candy for the neighborhood children
we knew than she did for 'strangers' out trick or treating.  We like to limit our "treats"
to our friends...hence the need to say trick or treat.

HALLOWE'EN RECIPE - Mulled Cider, from Marion Lane:

Marian recently wrote:

I made some homemade spiced cider with our neighbors apples.  To 32 ounces of
fresh cider, I added 1 1/2 - 2 cups Orange Juice, a small cinnamon stick, a dash of
nutmeg and cloves (to taste) and 3 drops of sweet orange EO.  Heated in a crock
until thoroughly hot and served.  It was delish.  I haven't used the EO in a cider
before, just orange zest...but this time, there is no zest to strain.  It is REALLY
good if you add a cabernet, slightly warmed to the mix for the adults :o)

(Thanks for letting us share that, Marion!)

NEW PRODUCT - Nitrogen to protect your essential oils

You've heard us talk about storing our oils under Nitrogen to extend their shelf life.
We now can make available to you the same 'nitrogen blanket' that we have used for
years.  See it on our Specials page, complete with an illustration of how to use it.

Nightmares?

Nightmares seem appropriate for Hallowe'en.  Our new friend Serena recently wrote that she
has found that applying both Frankincense and Sandalwood to the soles of her feet will banish
nightmares that had been coming all too regularly for years.  Since both are ancient spiritual oils,
her success  does make sense.

SPECIAL SALE

All the oils that say "AUTUMN" to us...  Black Spruce,
Balsam Fir, Frankincense, one special Eucalyptus, some
spices... all at special Autumn pricing, only  when ordered
through our New and Special page.

Save those teeth!

Our friend Barbara, of Alma Del Sol recently gave us permission to share this.
It has proven so very effective that she wants to get the word out.

Dear all--

I have come upon a blend that is getting such great reviews that I have to
share it, along with a brief case history.

THE BLEND:
Tea tree x 8  (Germicidal)
Myrrh x 1  (Germicidal/anti-inflammatory/astringent)
Clove x 1/2  (REALLY germicidal)
Cardamon x 1/2  (Keeps plaque from sticking, honest)

Put 2 drops on toothbrush with toothpaste and brush as usual, or use in an
irrigation device or put 2 drops in a shotglass full of water and use as a
mouthwash (try not to swallow, but it won't hurt you if you do).

THE GREAT REVIEWS:
Dentists saying things like "What are you doing differently?" or "Well, I
don't know what you are doing, but it looks like you may actually be able to
keep your teeth." or "I don't think we really need to do that gum surgery
after all."

THE CASE HISTORY:
Me, of course, and NO, I am not going to launch into another round of
trials.  I'm getting enough positive feedback from my dentist and my clients
to know it works.

My entire family just seems to accumulate plaque easily and we all need to
have our teeth cleaned frequently.  In the last few years, I was losing the
battle even with daily brushing, flossing, irrigation and professional
cleanings every 4 months.  My dentist lectured me relentlessly, even though
I really was religious about dental hygiene.

I finally got fed up and decided that the solution was not going to be
entirely mechanical.  I wised up and decided to view my mouth as a part of
my body and my dentist as a medical professional.  My dentist confirmed that
I was dealing with inflammation and bacteria buildup that was eroding gum
tissue.  He also told me that some people have systems that are too
alkaline, which causes more buildup, as well as "sticky bacteria".

I did a quick personal history and immediately thought "What am I doing
brushing with a baking soda toothpaste?" (is this an evil conspiracy between
the dentists and the manufacturers?), and I also recalled the chronic
problems that I and my mother and five sisters have had with bladder
infections, another "sticky bacteria" situation.

So I cooked up the blend listed above and mixed it 2% in a solution of
vinegar--1 part--and strong cranberry tea--2 parts(here in the US you can
get straight cranberry tea bags at any health food store from Traditional
Medicinals--it is sold for bladder health).  Used it as a mouthwash.
Yum-yum. Kept up with the brushing and flossing as usual.

I also did research into anti-inflammatory diet, and did some pretty radical
diet changes, which were a great improvement in lots of ways.

Six months later, my dentist said "What are you doing differently?"  I had
actually reversed the periodontal decline.

So for the next four months I just used the blend on my toothbrush and
dispensed with the vinegar and cranberry.  I held my own.

I gave the blend to a couple of friends who called a few months later with
"Great news!--I don't have to have the gum surgery".

I have resumed the vinegar and cranberry, and the improvement has continued,
but the blend works very well on its own.

Barbara Lucks

Thanks for sharing, Barbara!

NEW INFORMATION ONLINE

Courtney and I have made a start at a new online information page.on the website...
a listing of various physical ailments and the aromatic remedies often suggested either by
authorities, or reported by our clients.  Please remember it is VERY much a work in
progress and will be undergoing a lot of revisions and additions as time allows.

Client's Experience: Helichrysum, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Bone Spurs:

Prakash writes from Virginia:

"I want to share an interesting story with you--something unexpected from using
Helichrysum & St. John's Wort.

Earlier this week, I felt a flareup of rheumatoid arthritis starting. I'd recently gotten
some of your infused St. John's Wort, and I've been playing with your amazing (on many levels)
Helichrysum in Fractionated Coconut Oil for about a month.  So, as the sharp pain started in
my joints, I slathered on the St. John's. . .let it soak in for a few minutes, then followed with a
healthy dose of Helichrysum gently massaged on top.  (joints involved: many, including elbows)
After a while, I began to feel a "softening" of the pain.

*BUT* that's not why I'm writing.  The next morning, I noticed a big brown bruise near
my elbow.  A few weeks ago, I'd felt a bump there--like a bone-spur. I'd chalked it up to the
RA and planned to check in with my doctor about it.  Anyway, this big bruise (looking like it
was an old bruise; though there'd been nothing there the day before) was right over that spur/bump.
Hmmm. Felt it; it felt sort of like little crystals were in there, maybe a bit of break up of the spur?
Anyway, I decided to rub my elbow each evening with the same combo of St. John's & Helichrysum.
I started all this on Tuesday night. This morning--Sunday--that spur/bump is barely there, maybe 1/8
of what it was earlier in the week.
I don't know if this was from the Helichrysum or the St. John's Wort or the combo of the two.  I just know I'm delighted.
Side note: Just smelling that marvelous Helichrysum soothes my bones, my heart, and my soul.
Thanks, Marge.  :-)"

We are going to add this to our Helichrysum Healing page. It seems there is no END to what that
healing oil can do.  thanks, Prakash!

It's been very hard to find an aromatic quote for Hallowe'en... so I'll settle for Bobby Burns' old prayer...

"from ghosties and ghoulies and long legged beasties and things that go bump in the night, dear Lord deliver us!"

Happy Hallowe'en all of you...from all the little witches at Nature's Gift!
