there - place an order on the 23rd and get a free sample bath's worth of our
Rose Bliss Bath - this Grandma's very favorite self-nurturing goodie. Just tell
us in the comments section at checkout that you are a Gorgeous Grandma!
We've put other goodies for Grandma's on sale this month: our favorite
hydrosols - White Rose (Rosa Alba), Rose Geranium, and Witch Hazel, as well as
our Mature Skin Elixer. All on our
Specials Page.
July 17th is Ice Cream Day
Celebrate with a bowl of Licorice Ice Cream - 3
or 4 drops of our new Aniseseed Myrtle Essential Oil stirred into a pint of
really rich vanilla ice cream. Heavenly! (You may read more about this new
Australian oil on our Specials page, or
our descriptive listing.)
Summer Relaxation
All of our Aromatherapy Bath Salts are on sale. Save $2.00
on any or all. Only on our
Specials page, of course.
Name Change/Sale:
Our SmokeEater synergy was under-appreciated. Everyone who tried it,
loved it. But not everyone needs to clear smoke from their home or office
or car. And if you don't need to clear away smoke, why try SmokeEater?
Since we are convinced it is a wonderful air clearer and spirit lifter...we've
renamed it to Fresh Aire. Seems more descriptive. Since
several 5 ml bottles still bear the old "SmokeEater" label, we are offering
existing stock at a reduced price on the specials page.
Back in Stock
Our wonderfully smoky Guaiacwood essential oil and Gabriel's Aunt sensuous
Slow Dance aromatherapy candles.
Carrier Oils:
We found a different source for Calophyllum, and like the new supply even
more than what we have been using. It's thinner (less viscuous) and even
sweeter smelling. (Still makes me crave Butter Pecan ice cream every time
I work with it!)
Summer Gardening for all you Tomato and Rose Gardeners:
Chris Lewandowski wrote:
I used your Sumatran Patchouli
last year on my tomatoes with fantastic results.
Of course I had to know more:
She shared:
I
experimented last year & found that the best mixture was 2 parts Sumatran
patchouli, 1 part lavender, 1 part peppermint & a drop of Thyme linalol. I cut
old cloth towels or diapers into 4" strips, put about 3 to 4 drops on the cloths
& then tie them to the tomatoes cages or bean stakes. I found that one cloth
near the ground & one up higher per cage is all that's needed to keep white
flies & any number of garden pests away from my tomatoes.
The Tagetes is new for me this year & I plan to use it, by itself, near my
roses. I'll use the same cloth tie method, since all of my 17 rose bushes are
along the fence.
It's great because the cloths can be recycled; plus the blend smells absolutely
wonderful.
Instant Refreshment:
Try adding a teaspoon or so of Peppermint Hydrosol to your chilled water
bottle. YUM! much more cooling than 'plain' H2O. Shirley Price recommends adding a teaspoon of Peppermint Hydrosol to heavy
cream before whipping it to top a chocolate dessert. (Don't forget it's on
sale!)
Dilute two or three drops of Peppermint Essential oil in a bit of liquid soap
or carrier oil and add to a tepid bath for quick relief from overheating. (Don't
use more than three drops!)
Safer Driving:
More on Peppermint: Driving Fatigue: a recent study showed that
Peppermint Essential Oil helped reduce driving frustration, anxiety and fatigue,
while increasing alertness. Relief from Road Rage???
FIRST AID: Spider Bite
Found in a six year old July Newsletter:
Lisa wrote:
i got a very large, itchy spider bite on my leg. i thought i was going to have
to *not move* all day because when i walk, the itchy/burniness is tremendous.
then i remembered the Bulgarian Lavender sample you sent.
in about 15 minutes, the itching went away and just a moment ago, i forgot it
was there! isn't THAT fun!?
Seminar - for Health Care Professionals
On Saturday August 20 in Cleveland TN or Sunday August 21 in Chattanooga, Dr.
Jane Buckle will be teaching a one day seminar covering some of the latest
clinical research in aromatherapy. CEU's are available. For further
information or registration go to the
seminar listing page.
(Yes, Courtney and I plan to attend, even though we are not health care
professionals. We always learn so much from Jane.)
Naming Contest:
We can not believe how many of you replied to our "suggest a name for the
Miracle Blend" contest. If we could harness all the creativity among our
clients and readers we could ... I don't know what! At any rate, after
reviewing all the suggestions, and all the replies that love the present name,
we decided to leave "Marge's Miracle Blend" well enough alone. Since
we didn't choose anyone's suggestion, there really was no winner, but that
didn't seem fair. We drew a name, and Eileen Kronmilller
will be receiving a bottle of Marge's Miracle Blend as a thank you.
10 on the 10th
Don't forget to help us celebrate our 10th year online - On July 10th use the
promotional code "anniversary" (without the quotation marks!), press
apply, and receive 10%
off almost every item in your shopping cart. The 10% discount will
automatically be added to your order. If you do not see the discount added, do
NOT submit your order. We can not retroactively apply it.
(Please don't order any
Fast Buys, or the special books that cannot be discounted. If you do so,
it will delay processing of your order.) The overwhelming response to
this monthly celebration really has slowed us down a bit. Shipment of your
order may be delayed an extra day or so while we try to catch up. (We hope the
savings will be worth the delay!)
July's charity of the month:
The Mental Health Research Association,
www.narsad.org, is the largest
donor-supported organization in the world devoted to funding research on brain
and behavioral disorders. An
estimated 22.1 percent of Americans ages 18 and older -about 1 in 5 adults-
suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year -
2.2 million American adults have schizophrenia in a given year, while
approximately 18.8 million American adults have a depressive disorder in a given
year. NARSAD funds grants studying causes, treatments, and eventual cures
for psychiatric disorders. With cuts in government funding for research,
public donations become more and more important. 2% of our
gross sales every Wednesday are given to the charity of the month. If this
is a cause you would like to support, you may also add a donation to your order
via our shopping cart.
Aromatic quote of the month:
Perfect for midsummer, this quote from Cowper:
Nature, exerting an unwearied power,
Forms, opens, and gives scent to every flower;
Spreads the fresh verdure of the field, and leads
The dancing Naiads through the dewy meads.
Enjoy your July, everyone!
