Our Clients Say:
Robyn Kevlin wrote about our SkeeterBeater this week:
Just wanted to chime in
on that product...
I tried it for the
first time this past week, during five days of camping in the woods of Dickson
County. Normally, after five days I'd have several chigger and tick bites,
despite the fact that I soaked myself in DEET each day. With the Skeeter
Beater, I had ONE TICK BITE after five days, and it was under my bra strap where
I hadn't sprayed.
That stuff is
terrific. I wouldn't have thought I'd have such success, using less product,
using a safer product, using a product that smells better, LOL! Thanks for
turning me on to it.
When I wrote asking her permission to quote, (and suggesting adding a bit of
Rose Geranium, said to repel ticks) she replied:
"Absolutely -- use
whatever comments you like .
The place we camp
is literally crawling with ticks and chiggers, so only having one bite at the
end of the trip was nothing short of phenomenal. ;) I'd say the S B formula
works fine just the way it is."
and more about SkeeterBeater:
"Dear Marge,
A couple of months ago I was very bothered by chigger bites. I tried a number of
different products to repel them. Nothing worked very well until I tried your
SkeeterBeater Synergy. I put a few drops in water in one of your atomizers and
spray it all over me if I'm about to go outdoors. The smell is lemony and
acceptable. It definitely repels the chiggers. This has solved a major
problem for me.
Before I started using the SkeeterBeater, I got quite a number of chigger bites.
I put a tiny bit of your Helychrysum on each itchy bite and within a few minutes
the itchiness went away. I needed to put more Helychrysum on every few hours but
within a couple of days, the bites had stopped itching altogether. Given the
extreme itch that chigger bites can cause, this is a godsend. I always want to
keep Helychrysum on hand, just in case.
I want to mention that your cobalt blue atomizer is very pretty and works
extremely well.
Thank you for your wonderful products! Please feel free to publish my
testimonials.
Sincerely,
Alexandra Hopkins

Speaking of Chigger Bites: From a 1999 newsletter:
Another client just wrote: "Also want you to know the helichrysum
oil (in carrier) did WONDERS with a chigger bite I had on my leg!
Good God! Swelling (welt) and itching immediately reduced to
almost NOTHING. Last time this happened, I itched for about one
solid week and the nasty bites left almost scars and darkened
spots that remained for a long time. "
And Christi recently posted
a blog article about using Skeeterbeater and Rose Geranium to protect her
furkids from fleas and ticks.
Easy Recipes: (to serve on Mother's Day?)
Somehow citrus flavors "taste like Spring" to me...so I dug out these old
favorites.
Orange Almond Spread (for bagels or muffins)
8 oz (250 grams) Cream Cheese
2 Tablespoonsful Ground Almonds
1 Tablespoon grated orange rind
3 drops Organic Orange Essential Oil
Cream all ingredients together and chill for two hours or
overnight. Allow spread to reach room temperature before serving.
Great with crackers, bagel chips, bagels or hot out of the oven
muffins. (Use "Light" cream cheese to cut calories.)
Lemon Myrtle Cheese Cake: quick and easy
Crust: 2 cups crushed Graham Crackers or Ginger Snaps. 125 grams (4
ounces) real butter. Melt butter, blend into crumbs, press into springform
pan.
Filling: 250 grams Cream Cheese (8 ounces.) 1 can Sweetened
Condensed Milk, 1/2 cup Lemon Juice. Beat Cream Cheese, gradually
add condensed milk, then lemon juice. Add one or two drops Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia
citriodora) essential oil. Pour into prepared shell and chill well.
