We are planning a special "trick or treat" sale for Halloween. On Saturday, October 31st enter the promotional code "treat" at checkout, and press apply. The discount given will vary throughout the day; sometimes as high as 15%, sometimes as low as 5%. AROMATHERAPY CONFERENCE:

October 15 - 19, the Alliance of International Aromatherapists is having their annual conference and tradeshow. Several of our friends and colleagues are presenting. If you are able to get to the Chicago Area in mid October, you will have the opportunity to learn SO much, and to meet some wonderfully knowledgeable people. For details on presenters and how to register, please visit the AIA site. I want so much to go, but haven't worked out details of being gone yet again, and travel arrangements. So much being presented that is appropriate for us to learn about... Jennifer Jeffries talking about MRSA research, Laraine Kyle on the inpatient psych uses of the oils, friend and client Pam Conrad on the OB uses of the oils... so many talks that are close to my heart. And Robbi Zeck is a presenter. (So are lots of others...I'm just hitting the highlights!)

Just after my return from Crestone CO, I entered into correspondence with a fairly new client whose shipping address is, coincidently enough, Crestone. She wrote:

"I am 58 years old, and my skin aged so fast up here in Crestone, Co. (in the alpine desert at an altitude of 9,000 ft. ), it was truly a bummer - I went from a peach to a prune in four months. We hadn't heard from Lisa in years. She recently ordered and wrote the following:

"I thought you would get a kick out of this.........

I got into the essential oils for the 1st time about 10 or more years ago. After awhile I packed them up and put them in a shoe box in the back of the closet.. I just started getting back into the oils again and I was putting my new oils I ordered from you with my old oils and realized that even though the label looked different, they both said " naturesgift" !!! I had no idea I was ordering from the same place I ordered from 10 years ago....I must say the bottle of patchouli I have from 10 years ago smells WONDERFUL.....

I replied: reminds me of the blog post I did maybe six months ago.. about Wendy of Aromaweb reviewing our oils at least 10 years ago...and criticizing the DREADFUL labels... but raving about the contents. and 10yr old patchouli SHOULD smell wonderful... it's "aged patchouli' and worth a bunch.

Allergy Sleep Blend:

"I've discovered a lovely sleeping mix. six drops of Bulgarian lavender with two drops of Blue Tansy into room temperature water on a candle warmer. I dislike an open flame and the candle warmer keeps the water just right. I've been using a mix for the last week and sleeping like a log and breathing easily despite the pollen."

Healthy "Soda" Recipe:

Not too long ago I purchased some of your clementine oil. I'm a citrus freak to begin with, but your write-up sealed the deal! It took all of 1 day for it to become part of my favorite summer soda.

I started to wonder and need to ask: are all of your organic citrus oils safe to ingest (in small amounts)? My gut says yes but I'm just not sure if any are dangerous.

You've probably tried this before, but just in case you haven't¦

Tall glass – 1 or 2 drops each of lime oil and Clementine oil – 1 or 2 Tbs Agave Syrup – 1 tsp lemon juice – Stir 'til mixed and fill with soda water and ice: YUM! Ok, maybe not the very healthiest drink ever, but a great alternative to creepy white sugar, color and chemical laden commercial sodas when you want something special! My mind is mad with the possible combinations of citrus oil soda – and I've tried many - so please let me know if any of my magic concoctions (using your citrus oils, ie: lemon, lime, pink grapefruit, tangerine, clementine, mandarine, orange, etc.) are likely to poison me.

I replied that I thought several drops a day was 'overuse' of the oils, that I'd limit the use of ANY essential oils used in flavoring, but that our ORGANIC cold pressed Citrus oils were certainly the best for internal use.

Ant Repellant:

For years I've told you all that Lemon Tea Tree is a great mosquito repellant - the core of our SkeeterBeater blend. Carol Ivance is using it to repel ants, something that I'd not thought of:

If you need any further testimonials for Lemon teatree, it is GREAT for getting rid of ants, and anything else with 6 legs that happens along. I mixed some with water in a spray bottle, and it's amazing how well it works. We have tried all kinds of remedies, and none have been permanent, until now:) Thanks for all your helpful tips.

Psoriasis Treatment:

My old friend and mentor,Sylla Sheppard-Hanger of the Atlantic Institute of AT recently wrote about treating a clients recalcitrant Psoriasis:

wow, by the time I saw her this week, most of the swelling had subsided, but deep red cracks were apparent, and skin was dry/flaky, rough.

put on the blend of: pomegranate seed, sea buckthorn (15 dr each approx) in 2 oz fractionated coconut and a bit of olive; one drop of rose for scent value)

by the evening (12 hrs) all redness gone from cracks, and in 24 hours all cracks closed, smoother, less rough skin......will keep you posted
