Happy Morning Anti-nausea Synergy

Morning sickness is miserable, pure and simple.  We've been looking at solutions that would be both effective and safe for the pregnant woman and the fetus.  We thought of Peppermint oil, but there are those who advise avoiding it during pregnancy.   Ginger is wonderfully effective, but the aroma of Ginger Essential Oil can be - offputting.   So I turned to the groups of Nurse-Aromatherapists who have been my mentors, and received several suggestions for a blend of Red Mandarine (a potent anti-nausea oil by itself) blended with Ginger Essential Oil. 

We tried the blend and found it delightful - smells like my favorite Mandarine Spice tea.   Because both the components are skin irritants, I'd not use this blend topically, but for inhalation, either a drop on a tissue, or a few drops in an inhaler or in the bedside aromalamp.  It's delightful, and a proven successful formula. (I wish I had known about this when Wendy was pregnant with Jack or Josh...or Kaitlinn, or JT! (She suffered terribly with all-day sickness, not just morning sickness, and I know it would have helped her!)

AROMATIC BIRTHING KIT

You've read our suggested oils for natural childbirth, based on the input of several nurses and doulas.  We've had several requests to put the suggested oils together in kits, for ease of use.

We've received rave reviews of this blend of rich Shea Butter, emollient Sweet Almond, with Vitamin E, French Lavender and German Chamomile to sooth irritation with a dusting of cosmetic grade corn starch to give a soft, powdery finish..  The fluffy mix is ice blue, from the Chamomile. Light as a feather, a tiny dab is enough to spread soothing protection on your baby's bottom, or any other irritated skin.  Customers used to call to make sure this is in stock before coming into the store. 4oz by volume, 2.5 oz by weight, or a 16-18 oz Bail Jar holding approximately 8 ounces of this soothing soufflé. Happy Baby Wash or Massage Oil

Lavender and German Chamomile to soothe baby's skin and relax fretfulness, in a unique oil blend just for baby. This was my gift to both my grandchildren when they were born.

The massage oil is a healing blend Calendula infused oil with the protection of Sweet Almond oil, blended with the Lavender and Chamomile to soothe and protect baby’s delicate skin. Use as an all over baby massage oil, or to heal and protect the diaper area.

For the baby wash we purchase the gentlest liquid soap (saponified olive, palm and coconut oils) available, add Lavender and Chamomile, and further dilute it with our pure Rose Hydrosol, to safely, gently and naturally clean baby’s delicate skin.  Now, most of the time infants do not need soap...a warm wash cloth should be enough to get them shiny clean, but for the times you do need soap, this is your  best and most natural choice.

Note: I just came across research indicating that massaging a colicky baby with diluted Lavender Oil has shown to ease the pain of colic. The link to the research study is here. "The use of aromatherapy massage using lavender oil was found to be effective in reducing the symptoms of colic"  I wish I had known that when my firstborne had terrible colic...
