I just finished reading this one, and have real mixed emotions about it. Kate and Peter Damian of Windrose Aromatics are importers and sellers of EO's and personal care products, as well as teaching aromatherapy courses and workshops. The book provides only a rudimentary introduction to the oils, perhaps a total of fifty pages profiling the individual oils and suggesting uses, so it is obviously not the "perfect guide to mastering the use of essential oils' that the publisher claims. However, it provides the most thorough background in the psychology of scent that I've seen in any "popular work" The Damian's also provide cogent arguments in favour of the metaphysical activity of the oils. This is most definitely NOT a beginner's book, but I suspect that it is one I will be trying to wrap my brain around for some time to come. And when some scientist tries to tell me the oils work simply because of their chemical components, and that synthesizing all the components will yield the same results, the Damians will be able to renew my vision of these gifts we call Essential Oils.
