labdanum absolute "ciste"

Treasured by perfumers, Labdanum, the Absolute produced from my beloved RockRose, adds a sweetly balsamic tang to any blend. Much deeper and more resinous than the steam distilled Spanish Cistus Essential oil, Burfield describes Labdanum Absolute as having a "powerful, sweet ambery/balsamic odour. Dry-out sweet, warm, leathery, resinous, ambered and slightly caramelic. Labdanum Absolute is used to impart rich ambery notes to chypre accords in both male and female fine fragrances, and in chypre accords in general. It is also employed in leathery and amber accords. Labdanum absolute is also a superb perfume fixative.

I would never use the Absolute for the physical effects of good Cistus oils, the lymphatic drainage and detoxifying effects, but its aroma suggests to me that perhaps it might have the emotional effects of a wonderful Cistus oil.

Labdanum is a key ingredient in Amber blends, of Chypre perfumes and in many Oriental perfume blends.

Labdanum is also a spiritual or meditation oil. The aroma seems to take some to other places in their mind, and later they crave the smell of it.

This is a very thick oil. It will not come out of the orifice reducer in the bottle, however you can stick a tooth pick or something similar into the bottle to spoon it out. Otherwise, the bottle will need to be warmed quite a bit. This will loosen the oil, but you must work quickly, because it will solidify very quickly.

Blending with: Labdanum Absolute works beautifully with Citrus colognes, Lavender colognes, any type of Oriental perfume base, Pine and forest blends. It blends well with Oakmoss, Clary Sage, Bergamot, Lavender, Calamus, Lavandin, all other citrus oils, opopanax and more.
