The following is copied from a public message by my friend Susan Renkel of Changes Within. Susan is an RN who has spent years researching this subject...."The important thing to know here is that if you are a women, if you have PMS, severe cramping, massive menstrual bleeding, if you are perimenopausal, menopausal, or post menopausal, you need to get the medical treatment that you deserve. There is a great deal of MISinformation that drug companies and the scientific community, herbal product makers, doctors themselves, and the media passes on. Research into womens health issues, science, and the medical community at large, is and has been predominanetly male. It will be a long time before this changes, it may never change, unless women take charge of their own bodies and their own health.
For starters, I would suggest and encourage ALL women, whether they are symptomatic or not to go out and buy at least ONE book ... for starters; Screaming to Be Heard by Elizabeth Lee Vliet, M.D. There are also many others but this, to date, has been the most unbiased book I have read thus far.
Women ARE biologically different than men. This is a fact. Women do not have to put up with improper medical diagnosis and treatment because of these biological differences. Women shouldn't need to scream to be heard. Some day I hope we don't have to."
