Publisher's Synopsis: Essential oils are one of the world's great untapped resources. This complete volume explains how to incorporate these ancient medicines of the earth into everyday life for personal care, physical and mental health, and a safe home environment. It gives more than 500 recipes using essential oils as alternatives to often toxic human-made health, beauty, and cleaning products.
My Comments: This is one of those 'big basic' Aromatherapy books, an wonderful introduction for the beginner. This is another one of the 'If you can only buy ONE aromatherapy book' suggestions. It contains a fair amount of knowledge about the basic oils, but is primarily a 'how to use them' rather than an introduction to the oils themselves.
Ms Worwood begins with a basic introductory 'travel kit' of ten basic essential oils, and explains how to use them to treat many of the ills of every day life. She goes on to expand the use of aromatherapy for work related problems, both physical and stress related, sports and athletic injuries, aromatic beauty and health treatments for face, hair, and body; chapters on raising healthy children, specific health problems of men and women as well as the elderly. She also includes the use of Essential Oils throughout the home, holiday celebrations, cooking, animal husbandry and gardening, truly a guide to filling our lives with the oils.
