Angelica Root Germany (no ratings yet)
Angelica archangelica, organically produced, steam-distilled, aged root, Germany.
• Private Reserve.
• (Samples only on dropdown menu.).
• Grounding/soothes emotions.
• Photosensitizer.
• Avoid during pregnancy/breastfeeding.

The oil that convinced us to offer "Private Reserve" oils.  I had bought this for my own use, and for blending. Far too costly to buy for resale. But if we strive to offer the BEST oils, we have to make this available.  Perhaps 15 years ago we had a British distiller who left his Angelica plants to grow for an extra year or two, before harvesting. Upon harvest, he let the roots age for years before distilling. the result was amazing; sweet, deep, earthy. We have searched for years and never found its like.  Finally, last summer, when I knew I was going to have to blend with Angelica Root for a special project, and our current oil just was not working, aromatically, in the blend, I ordered a tiny bottle of this.  And I was overwhelmed.  The decision to buy for resale took some time, but we had to make it available to you.  It is at least the equal of the oil I had all those years ago.  ENJOY, if you need it, this is, in my experience, the best specimen you will ever find.

Available in our standard 2, 5, and 15 mls, and a 0.5 ml sample vial.  Because Angelica Root is such a strong photosensitizer offering it in a dilution seems unwise. You should not wear it topically. Please see the safety information below.  We recommend using in a personal inhaler, or a piece of aromatherapy jewelry.

Angelica was known in the middle ages as “The Angels Herb” for its almost miraculous healing strength. In the past, it was used to purify the blood, and as an antidote to poisoning. It was believed to be the remedy for all infectious diseases. The essential oil is wonderful for fatigue and for stress-related illnesses. Emotionally and spiritually it is helpful for those who need grounding, or who are searching for reality.

Physically, Angelica Root may be useful in cases of chronic stomach problems such as gastritis, and for lack of appetite. It is also useful with chronic respiratory conditions, such as asthma, sinus problems, etc. The herbal form of Angelica Root is said to be an immune system stimulant, a blood purifier, a remedy for all infectious diseases and toxins. Whether any or all of these characteristics apply to the oil is a good question. I have frequently seen Angelica Root Oil recommended for use in many chronic illnesses, especially chronic respiratory problems, and illnesses related to accumulation of toxins, such as gout, rheumatism, and water retention. Thinking of how nicely this oil blends with Juniper Berry and wondering how that combination would work to treat edema.

One of my mentors says that Angelica Root can help “shut down” the emotions. Not an effect to be encouraged, but perhaps useful in a situation where you absolutely can not afford to “feel your feelings” during an emergency?   There are times when we simply can not let our emotions run free, and Angelica can help rein them in.

Emotionally, Angelica Root is recommended for fatigue and stress-related illnesses. Fischer-Rizzi recommends it for helping you discover your own inner resources. I have also seen it recommended for those who need grounding. I am experimenting with a blend of Angelica Root and Rose Otto for a friend who suffers from recurrent panic attacks (as an alternative to our Reunité of course!).  This particular specimen is going to be used in our new Emotional Trauma blend. That is, originally, why I purchased it.

WARNING: Angelica Root is a powerful photosensitizer. If applied to the skin avoid exposure to UV light. The oil is reputed to stimulate uterine contractions, so avoid use during pregnancy.  Recommended dermal limit to avoid sun damage is 0.8%, less than one drop of essential oil per teaspoon of carrier.

SHELF LIFE: Approximately 1 to 2 years after you open the bottle.  Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life.

BLENDS WITH: Citrus Oils, Lemongrass, Juniper, Rosemary, Eucalyptus, Vetiver.
